Giagen Red Palm Weevil Bucket Trap and Pheromone Lure is a high-performance insect monitoring lure available on Way2Agritech designed for the early detection and mass trapping of Red Palm Weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus), one of the most destructive pests of palm crops. The Coco-Trapp® Insects Bucket Trap is conducive to attract & trap the Red Palm Weevil. The insect’s trap is made from durable, weather-resistant materials and is designed for repeated field use. The specially designed entry system allows attracted insects to enter the trap and prevents their escape. Bucket trap is engineered to work with compatible pheromone lures for Rhinoceros Beetle, Red Palm Weevil, and other target insect pests. This RPW lure attracts adult weevils with a species-specific attractant, enabling timely pest management before severe internal damage occurs. This pheromone lure is ideal for use in coconut, arecanut, date palm, oil palm, and ornamental palm plantations, supporting effective management. The lure delivers consistent field performance of up to 180 days, helping monitor pest populations, reduce breeding, and lower infestation levels without leaving chemical residues. Easy to install in compatible pheromone traps, it offers eco-friendly, and sustainable solution for commercial plantations and nurseries.

Crop-Product Advisory

  1. 1.Best suited for: Specifically developed for monitoring and mass trapping of Red Palm Weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) in coconut, arecanut, date palm, oil palm, and ornamental palm plantations.
  2. 2.Infestation level & application: Install traps as a preventive measure in vulnerable plantations or immediately when the first symptoms such as oozing sap, chewed fibres, or entry holes are noticed to detect and suppress adult weevil populations.
  3. 3.Recommended combination: Integrate with regular removal and destruction of severely infested palms, wound protection after pruning, orchard sanitation, and recommended biological or chemical control measures for comprehensive Red Palm Weevil management.
  4. 4.Application interval: Check traps every 7–10 days, remove trapped weevils, and replace the pheromone lure after 180 days or sooner if attraction declines under extreme weather conditions.
  5. 5.Resistance management: Maintain trapping throughout the active season and combine with cultural and biological practices to reduce breeding and prevent resurgence of Red Palm Weevil populations
  6. 6.Precaution: Position 2 Coco-Trapp® Insect Bucket Traps per acre with uniform spacing, away from direct water exposure, avoid opening or puncturing the lure sachet, handle with clean gloves whenever possible, and replace the lure at the end of its effective field
